George S. Smith, a Lonoke County resident, has announced his intentions to run for state senator for District 28, which includes Lonoke and Prairie counties and parts of Arkansas and Pulaski.
Smith, 64, a native of Hope, and a longtime state newspaper editor and publisher, will file as a “fiscally conservative Republican.” He is seeking to succeed Sen. Bobby Glover, who is leaving office due to the state’s term limits law.
